Belize Cave Tubing Excursions

No Hoch Chen is a subterranean site consisting of limestone caves which have been carved out by the Caves Branch River. The ancient Maya viewed caves as an entranceway to the underworld, Xibalba. The cave system was used for ceremonial offerings by the ancient Maya from AD 300 to 900 in the hope of appeasing the gods. The Mayas would leave offerings and sacrifices to ensure bountiful harvests, plentiful hunting and a stable universe.

You will be picked up at 8:00 am from your hotel or the Belize City Municipal Airport. Cave Tubing is one of the most popular tourism adventures in Belize. Your adventure will begin with a one-hour drive from Belize City to the No Hoch Chen Archaeological Reserve. Once at the archaeological destination, you will be given a life vest, tube and headlamp. Your tour guide will ensure that your equipment is properly fitted to ensure your safety and comfort. Your journey to the Maya underworld will begin with a five minute walk to the first trail head where you will cross the Caves Branch River. You will take a thirty- minute hike on a moderate trail through a lush tropical rain forest where your guide will point out several medicinal plants and archaeological features. Once you arrive at the cave entrance, your guide will ensure that you are properly placed on your tube, where you will take a relaxing ride through several caves and down the Caves Branch River. After your tour is completed, your guide will take you to Splash Restaurant & Bar, where you will enjoy a Belizean homemade lunch. You will then board your air conditioned vehicle back to Belize City. Our staff will ensure that your experience will be memorable and that you arrive safely and on time to board your cruise ship, flight to San Pedro or return to your hotel.
